Urumqi One-Second Resolution Geomagnetic Data 2002-2003 ========================================== <<< An Explanation of Urumqi One Second Resolution Geomagnetic Data on the CD-ROM >>> ========================================== The one-second resolution geomagnetic field data are useful in various research fields such as geomagnetic pulsation, crustal resistivity, etc.. However, it is still not so convenient to use such high-time resolution data on-line because of the limitation in network transfer speed. This CD-ROM contains the one second resolution geomagnetic field data observed at Urumqi Magnetic Observatory located at (Geographic Latitude, Geographic Longitude) = (43.80, 87.70) as a research collaboration among China Earthquake Administration, Xinjiang Seismological Bureau and World Data Center for Geomagnetism, Kyoto. The latest data are available from the data center through WWW on-line service (http://swdcwww.kugi.kyoto-u.ac.jp/). Three magnetic components (H, Z and D) are measured by a fluxgate magnetometer every second with 0.01nT resolution. The values are derived using provisional base line values. The data on this CD-ROM are written with 2-byte binary integer usually used in the UNIX system on most work stations. We need to exchange the order of the two (i.e., upper and lower) bytes when we use the data with PCs (i.e., DOS, LINUX, WINDOWS etc.). The sample program on this CD-ROM written in C and FORTRAN language can be used in most systems. This CD-ROM contains a Setup program for WindowsXP. This software was developped by Dr. Y. Sanoo at Asahi University. To install it, double click the 'Setup' icon. The directory and file structure in this CD-ROM is as follow: readme.txt format.txt sample.c sample.f Setup.exe (quick_viewer) 2002 --------- wmq0201.sec ........... ........... wmq0212.sec 2003 --------- wmq0301.sec ........... ........... wmq0312.sec When you publish the results by using the data on this CD-ROM, please acknowledge to the Urumqi Magnetic Observatory and WDC for Geomagnetism, Kyoto.
