CAWSES (Climate And Weather of the Sun-Earth System) Space Weather Database in Japan Observation (CAWSESDB-J-OB0054) Version 1.0 March 2006 (CAWSES SPACE-W Database in Japan) Cosmic-Ray Neutron Data in 1953-2005 |
OB0054 |
This CD-ROM includes world-wide cosmic-ray neutron observations (one-hour fluxes) in 1953-2005, held by the World Data Center for Cosmic Rays*. Data are provided by text files in two formats; 80-bytes cardformat and 4096-byte longformat. The data structure of each format is shown in this booklet. Yearly plots for each stations in compressed PS files are also included in this CD-ROM. Yearly number of datasets is given also in this booklet. More detailed information on the database can be obtained from the home page of the WDC for Cosmic Rays:

Inquiries about the database should be addressed to; Takashi Watanabe, Managing Director of WDC for Cosmic Rays (watanabe[AT]env.sci.ibaraki.ac.jp).

Support for the production of CAWSES Database was provided by Grant-in-Aid for Publication of Scientific Research Results from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).
*The WDC for Cosmic Rays has been operated by the Department of Environmental Sciences, Ibaraki University, through the support of Solar-Terrestrial Environment Laboratory, Nagoya University.
Format of 80-byte (cardformat) Data of Cosmic-Ray Neutron
----------------------------------------------------------------- bytes format notes ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1-6 A6 First six characters of station name 7-13 A7 Comments on data, e.g.: N64 NM-64 neutron monitor P Pressure-corrected data C Counts S Scaled counts A Absolute values 14-15 I2 Year-1900 16-17 I2 Month 18-19 I2 Day 20 I1 1: 0-11h UT 2: 12-23h UT 22-80 12I5 Hourly data (99999: no data) -----------------------------------------------------------------
The size of a one-year data set is fixed to 60264 bytes. Each month
has data for 31 days, and days with no data are filled by 99999.
So that, the number of days in a yearly data set is 31 x 12 = 372 days.
