The absorption line of helium at 10830 Angstrom in the infrared is due to the energy level populated by the excitation of UV and X-ray radiation from the corona. Therefore, the part of the corona that is bright in X-rays is dark in helium 10830 Angstrom. On the contrary, the coronal holes appear brighter in helium 10830 Angstrom.
