Name: STEP Polar Network Abbreviation: STEPPN Institution: University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Science, Dept. of Earth and Planetary PhysicsContents: Magnetic field and Auroral data acquired from STEP Polar Network in the northern hemisphere. DC magnetic field: Daily files with a size of 8640 bytes (1440 minutes x 3 components x 2 bytes for one binary integer) are the main body of the data base extracted from the raw data (fluxgate magnetometer; 1 Hz sampling; 125 pT resolution; total range 2000 nT; 21 stations in the polar cap the auroral zone and in the subauroral zone). Also Postscript files of daily stackplots for the minute values: A list is available for files (50 MB daily; Search-coil magnetometer; 10 Hz sampling; 1 pT resolution; total range 2nT at 1 Hz; from 30 stations). Aurora: A data catalog, listing hourly synoptic of auroral activities for observation campaigns. Documented instruction files Instruction files; README, Station information, and Map files Data Availability: Files mentioned above placed in the publicly accessible directories at hpgrl.grl.s.u- tokyo.ac.jp, (ftp)/pub/magnet, (ftp)/pub/aurora, and (ftp)/pub/search-coil, can be used freely with a general rule of "anonymous ftp". The same Internet address is also accessible for WWW cliants by MOSAIC. Original high resolution data can be provided for requests of collaboration base mostly due to limitation of man-power.
